Reggaeton and Dancehall-mix class.
Reggaeton is the fusion of Reggae, Latin and Hip Hop flavors. Originating in Panama as ‘Spanish Reggae,’ the genre soon spread in popularity throughout Latin America, especially in Puerto Rico. The Reggaeton beat was derived from one of the most renowned Dancehall “riddims” which is fast and energetic, reflecting the way in which it is danced. Reggaeton focuses on strong and sensual hip movements (commonly known as dancing ‘perreo’) and often incorporates hip hop grooves and latin dance technique.
Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music that originated in the late 1970s. The popularity of dancehall has spawned dance moves that help to make parties and stage performances more energetic. Many dance moves seen in hip hop videos are actually variations of dancehall dances. The dance is mainly developed on Jamaica in the street parties where the latest rhythms are played. The dance is a mix of different club steps with influences from African dance, Hip hop, and Latin dance, and in addition every person put their on flavour into it.
In this course you know all of the steps and our focus is more on choregraphies.
